Jack Shephard: Our resident island doctor. He is a spinal surgeon who had a fallout with his father two months before the crash. His mother sends him to Australia to find his father who ran there. When Jack finds him, he is dead from drinking too much alcohol. Jack used to be married but his wife left him for another man. Now Jack is under the sway of a certain Kate Austen....
Kate Austen: Kate is our criminal. She was mistreated (from what we gather) as a child. Her parents divorced when she was five and her mother remarried Wayne. Years later, she finds out that Wayne is her real father and grows angry that no one told her. She then proceeds to blow up her house; with Wayne inside. She is on the run from the law. Her mother gave her up, she is the cause of death for her childhood sweetheart Tom, and she robbed a bank. The Marshal that has a grudge against her found her in Australia. Now Kate is desperately trying to keep her past behind her. The question is can she? Kate has a choice that she will have to make soon. Jack Shephard, the doctor, or James "Sawyer" Ford, the con man?
James "Sawyer" Ford: Sawyer is the person everyone loves to hate and he loves to be hated. The question is does he really? Sawyer is a jerk that the only person who semi-deals with him is Kate. Sawyer has a tendency to give everyone nicknames and is a pack rat. After the crash he immediately started stealing from the dead. After the raft left, he came back and stold the guns when his stuff was missing. Sawyer had a terrible childhood; his father killed his mother when he found out that she was sleeping with another man, a con man named Sawyer, and that this Sawyer stole there money. Then his father killed himself. Sawyer then took on the alias of the very person he was trying to hunt down. Sawyer also has a tendency to use people to get what he wants.
Charlie Pace: Charlie is recovering from a Heroin addiction. A dried up rock star who still believes that his band has a chance, he was in over his head before the crash. Soon after the crash though, John helps him recover from his addiction. He meets Claire and instantly falls for her. It gives him a reason to stop snorting Heroin. When Ethan, an Other, kidnaps Claire he leaves Charlie for dead hung up in a tree. Jack and Kate resusitate him and he blames himself. When Claire comes back he is affronted by Ethan and soon after kills him. Right now Charlie is trying to survive knowing that Claire does not trust him anymore because of a mistake concerning the baby Aaron. Only time will tell what will happen. He was with Locke, Eko, and Desmond when the fail safe was initiated but made it out alive and doesn't know where Eko or Locke are. After returning, he and Claire talk and Claire kisses him.
Claire Littleton: When they crashed on the island Claire was 8 months pregnant. She and her friend go to see a psychic right after Claire discovers that she is pregnant. Immediately they realize that this guy is the real deal. A few months later Thomas, her boyfriend, leaves her and she goes back to the psychic. He tells her that no one else can raise the baby under any circumstances. Claire tells him that if she and Thomas don't get back together she is going to put the baby up for adoption. For months the psychic tells her she can't go through with this until Claire decides she wants to hear what his plan is. He sends her on Flight 815 to meet a couple in L.A. While on the island Claire realizes that he sent her there because he knew that the plane would crash. She was kidnapped by Ethan and the Others tried to take her baby. Alex Rousseau though helps her escape. Now she is struggling to be a single parent. After Charlie returned from the Hatch, she kissed him after asking what had happened at the Hatch.
Jin & Sun Kwon: Sun is a Korean woman. Sun comes from a family of a wealthy business and soon falls for Jin, a fisherman. Jin goes to her father and begs to marry Sun. Her father consents only if he works in the factory. Jin quickly agrees not knowing the obligations that this will involve. Soon Jin gets in over his head and is forced to do heinous things for Sun's father. Being unable to tell Sun how terrible her father is, a rift forms. Sun is then pushed to learn English without telling Jin in a hope that she can escape to America. At the last minute though, she bails and gets on the flight with her husband. Now everyone knows that Sun speaks English and Sun and Jin are now pregnant with their first child.
Hugo "Hurley" Reyes: Hurley is a happy, go lucky guy. Oh, did we mention he's worth over a million dollars? He won the lottery with what he believes to be cursed numbers. He spent some time in the psych ward which is where he learned the numbers: 4 8 15 16 23 42. Hurley was in the psych ward because of the fact that he walked out onto a deck with 23 people on it and the deck collapsed. Two people died. After that Hurley's subconscious made up a man named Dave. Dave was the part of Hurley that hated himself. Now Hurley is trying to keep everyone on the island cheery and try to forget about the fact that there is a computer in the Hatch that must be inputted with the same numbers every 108 minutes. Hurley is suffering the recent loss of Libby and was sent back to camp under orders of the Others to say not to go back to the dock.
Michael Dawson and Walt Lloyd: Michael and Walt. Father and son. When they landed on the island they knew virtually nothing about each other. Walt's mother died a month before the crash and Brian, his step-dad, forced Michael to become his parent again. Walt is believed to possess strange powers which is probalby the reason that he was kidnapped by the Others. Now Michael is searching for Walt if he has not already been kidnapped by the Others. We have not seen wither of them for quite some time now. Michael returned to camp and freed Henry. By freeing him he shot and killed Ana-Lucia and Libby then shot himself in the arm, making it look like Henry escaped. Michael then led Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sawyer into the jungle to be taken by the Others. Now he and Walt have been reunited and were told by Henry to follow the compass bearing on the boat to find rescue and never come back.
Sayid Jarrah: Sayid is a former communications officer of the Republican Guard (Iraq). Sayid is a caring and compassionate man who was in Australia helping the CIA so they would not arrest his girlfriend that he has not seen for years. Sayid however caring he may be, has a dark side. He has tortured people. Sayid is trying to use his experience to help the survivors but sometimes his anger gets him carried away.
John Locke: An exceptionally faith filled man. He believes thatthe island has all the answers which sometimes is hazardous for both him and others around him. He competes with Jack for control over the survivors and used to be in a wheelchair. His father stole his kidney which caused him to be bitter towards him. Locke found redemption on the island. When they crashed Locke was able to walk again which caused his somewhat fanatical faith in the island. Locke is the person that had the job of convincing everyone that they needed to push the button that is in the Hatch and truly believes Desmond when he says that they'll all die if the button isn't pushed. Well, did. He is the reason that the button stopped being pushed and from what we gather, the Hatch blew up with Eko, Desmond, and himself inside.
Shannon Rutherford and Boone Carlyle: Shannon and Boone are step-siblings. Boone is in love with Shannon. After Shannon's dad died Boone's mom left her out to dry which causes her to con Boone into paying off her "abusive" boyfriends. When they crash on the island Boone and Shannon constantly fight, even more so when Shannon starts to fall for Sayid. Both siblings are now dead.
