Okay everyone, this is just a page where I'm going to rant and rant and rant. I really don't mind if you read it or not, it's just me ranting. Mostly it will be me ranting about Jate. I'll come rant when I have time!!!!
THE JATE RANT!!!!!
Okay, now I'm going to rant about why I think Jate should happen and not Skate or Jacket or anything else! Alright, well first off in the entire first (especially) and second season the writers were supporting the idea that the island is a place for these damaged people to find redemption. To find closing, to start anew. They all had a Tabula Rasa (blank slate in Latin). Following this, it means that Kate needs to find closure about her past. This means that she needs to move on and realize that yes, what she did was bad, but it's the past and that she needs to move on. She can't do this if she is with Sawyer. I do believe that Sawyer may in fact change but so far he has shown very little intiative. She can't find redemption if she is with Sawyer because she said so herself, SAWYER REMINDS HER OF WAYNE. Wayne, the man she killed, the reason that she's on the run, the thing that haunts her most. Sawyer reminds her of this. How can she move on if she is with a man that reminds her of the bad things she has done in her life? Now I'm not saying that Jack is her one-way ticket to redemption but let's face it; Jack is one of the greatest guys in the world. He'd always treat Kate right. He'd help her find a way to move on. Yes, at times it seems as if he hates that Kate won't tell him about her past but he cares about her despite it. The thing about Jack and Kate is just like Kate said in "SOS": "Damaged goods, both of us." And they are. They both have been through so much in their lives and we haven't even seen half of it. Because of the pain Kate went through she finds it hard to open up to someone, to trust people. Because of the crappy relationships Jack has been in, he doesn't want to get in another one where his heart will be broken again. And because of this they push each other away. Yet, despite this they are still drawn to one another. They both want to change but don't think they can. Kate doesn't think she can ever be anything better than a criminal; Jack doesn't think he can ever be anything other than a failure (and that IS how he sees himself. Just look at his flashbacks with Christian and the whole Boone thing). Because of this, they don't think they deserve each other. Together they can help each other to move on from their pasts.
Next thing, Jack and Kate have had a connection obvious to EVERYONE from the beginning. You don't even see a trace of Skate until the ninth episode I believe. Even the rest of the survivors are rooting for Jate! Just look at Charlie and Hurley ("The Moth:" Hurley told Charlie to get Kate after cave in, "House of the Rising Sun:" Hurley asking Jack if Kate and Jack were moving into a cave together, "House of the Rising Sun:" Charlie teasing them about "verbally copulating" <-- His words, not mine! :), "Collision:" the whole Charlie and Hurley watching them with huge smiles while they talked "fighting talk" and let's face it, they probably bet Kate she couldn't hit it in the water trough, and there's tons more). Anyway, I know for a fact (because I have documented it) that there are MANY more Jate moments than Skate. Also, Jate moments usually end up with something sweet. Skate moments usually end up with some reference to Sawyer being a pig.
I WILL COME RANT MORE LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE ERAGON RANT:
Okay, I know this is a LOST website but after seeing the Eragon movie I just HAVE to get my anger out. First off, if you are a fan of the book I advise against seeing it. Here are my problems with it:
1. They couldn't pronounce a lot of it right. I mean, for God's sake! It's Al-A-GAY-ZEE-AH! THE BOOK HAS A PRONOUNCIATION GUIDE! LOOK AT IT!
2. They completely destroyed the characters of Brom and Arya. Completely. Brom was not a reclusive, mean, drunk. He was a kind old storyteller. Arya was NOT a lovestruck fool with Eragon and THEY DIDN'T GIVE HER ELF EARS!
3. Saphira grew GRADUALLY. She didn't explode into a full grown dragon. And SHE DOES NOT HAVE FEATHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4. Galbatorix, Brom, and Arya don't magically know there is a new farm boy rider when Eragon gets the gedwey ignasia (shining palm). NOBODY KNOWS ERAGON IS A RIDER UNLESS THEY SEE THE GEDWEY IGNASIA (which they screwed up) OR SEE SAPHIRA!!!!!!!!
5. Roran leaves for THERINSFORD so he can get enough money to marry Katrina.
6. Eragon was injured after riding Saphira for the first time and Garrow did not die immediately.
7. THE RA'ZAC WERE NOT BUGS AND BROM DIDN'T KILL ONE! HE WAS KILLED BY THEM! THEY WERE EVIL BIRD CREATURE THINGS!
8. Everything went entirely too fast.
9. Murtagh didn't want to go to the Varden. He was ready to fight Eragon to NOT go there.
10. Arya was unconscious for the most part of the book. We don't see her awake until the battle.
11. ERAGON KILLS DURZA BY LUCK! It's thanks to Arya and Saphira that he could kill Durza and he paid dearly for it by the scar on his back that gives him very painful seizures if he moves in the wrong way.
12. Brom can randomly pull things out of his arse in the movie. Swords, chainmail, horses, anything! And he must have like a rocket on his horse to keep up with Saphira. ROCKET POWERED BROM!!!!!!!!!!!
13. It seemed like everybody was in love with Eragon, but I think Eragon loved Saphira....
